Cornwall's only LGBTQ+ football club doubles fundraising target in epic EuroGames challenge
Members of Cornwall's only LGBTQ+ football team have raised hundreds of pounds for their EuroGames fundraising campaign after smashing their target in a gruelling cycling challenge.
Players and supporters from Stargazy FC set out to cycle 120km as part of the club's Road to EuroGames fundraiser, but ultimately doubled the distance, covering the equivalent journey from the Cornish border to the football pitches in Cardiff that will host matches during EuroGames 2027.

The challenge was organised to raise money for the club's participation in the major European LGBTQ+ sporting event, while also helping to raise awareness of the team and its work promoting inclusion in football.
Organisers hailed the effort as an "incredible" achievement, praising everyone who took part for pushing through the physical demands of the challenge.
While participants kept themselves fuelled with tea, flapjacks and even crosswords throughout the day, they said the achievement had only been possible thanks to the determination of those involved. "This is just a small group of the Stargazy squad," the club said, adding that the support it had received from the wider community had been "incredible".
The team also thanked Hall for Cornwall and Green Room Café in Truro for hosting the event and supporting the fundraiser.
Despite already raising hundreds of pounds, the campaign remains open, with organisers encouraging supporters to continue donating as the club prepares for its journey to EuroGames 2027.
