64 years old and F***ing Fabulous

I never thought I would reach such an age. Time goes by fast when you have the privilege of looking back. You feel you have all the time in the universe when young and looking towards the future, and 30 seemed old.
I transitioned medically in my late twenties. For years I had been fighting something inside. A self-destructive, snarling, poison-drooling, ugly beast of a demon... that tried to consume me...
This is a piece not about that time.
Ageing is a journey that we are not prepared for. It teaches that change is all we can be certain of. We constantly evolve and change over the years. In some ways trans folk understand this on a deeper level. Transition embraces change. Physically, mentally, emotionally and internally. As a trans person, I have been constantly aware of ever-evolving processes, getting to be a closer expression of my physical self as a man. Becoming comfortable with how the world sees me despite being socialised as female. Do I take on the codes and behaviours that are expected of men in a heteronormative world? Can I be myself? What does that look like? What does it feel like?
