Bums, Scrums and Bruises

When you think about it, there’s actually something really exposing about playing rugby.
We head out onto the pitch in our tight little shorts. We run into each other, we get knocked over, we throw each other in the air, and then we find ourselves at the bottom of a pile on with body parts in our faces with no idea who they belong to.
For people who have grown up playing sports, none of these things are very remarkable. But for some members of our team, getting to the point where this feels normal has been a journey, rethinking our relationship with sports, confidence, and our own bodies. Funny that so many of us who now willingly give up our evenings to run around a field, used to spend our school years finding ways to avoid doing exactly that.
