Squirt launches first‑ever gay dating app on iOS and Android
Squirt, the long‑running gay cruising website, has launched its first mobile dating app, expanding the platform’s reach with availability on both iOS and Android.
The app, SQ Dating - Gay Chat & Meet, is now live on Apple’s App Store, following an earlier release on Android. It marks the first time Squirt, which has operated online for 25 years, has offered a dedicated mobile app.
The company said the app maintains Squirt’s long‑standing “cruising‑first” ethos, prioritising direct connections over swipe‑based matching more commonly associated with mainstream dating platforms. Many of the core features from Squirt’s website have been adapted for mobile, including browsing profiles, chatting and finding local dates, while complying with app store guidelines.
Andrew Nolan, Head of Dating Businesses at Pink Triangle Press, which owns Squirt, said the iOS launch would allow more users to access the platform in the way they already connect.
“Squirt is built for real‑world connection - direct, global, and unapologetically cruising‑first,” Nolan said. “Launching on iOS means more guys can access that same experience the way they actually connect now: on the move, in the moment, and without watering it down.”
Squirt says its focus on facilitating offline encounters continues to resonate with users. According to the platform’s 2025 member survey, 80 per cent of respondents said they had successfully hooked up through the service.
The launch reflects a broader push by established LGBTQ+ dating platforms to adapt to changing user habits, as mobile use increasingly dominates online dating while competition from newer apps intensifies.
