Social night aimed at queer gamers to launch in Brighton this month
A new social night aimed at queer gamers and sports‑minded socialisers is set to launch in Brighton this month.
Joystick Jocks, a new event from the team behind Subline, will debut at Nautilus Lounge, running from 6pm until midnight. The organisers describe it as a relaxed, inclusive gaming social combining video games, board games and casual socialising in a welcoming environment.
The evening will feature a mix of console gaming, classic arcade machines, Rock Band singalongs and board games, with attendees also welcome to bring their own consoles or games. The focus, organisers say, is on fun and connection rather than skill or competition.
Joystick Jocks is designed as a low‑pressure social space, welcoming people to attend in whatever style they feel comfortable in. No prior gaming experience or specific equipment is required.
The event is strictly for over‑18s, with a Challenge 25 policy in place at the door.
Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical.
Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.
Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
