Foster Care Fortnight, an annual awareness campaign run by the Fostering Network to highlight the urgent need for more foster carers, takes place from Monday, May 13, to Sunday, May 26.
In 2013, at least 9,000 new foster families will be needed in the UK, with 950 needed in the south east to offer children in care the safe and stable homes they need.
People can apply to be a foster parent, regardless of marital or residential status, sexuality or ethnic background.
