A man has been charged with attempted murder after an 18-year-old trans woman was stabbed in Southport.

Just after 5.20pm on Saturday,. 27 July, emergency services were called to a report that the trans teenager had been stabbed inside a property. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition, Merseyside Police said.

Mark Henderson, 38, of Albert Road in Southport has been charged with attempted murder. He appeared in Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police are continuing to appeal for any information which could help with their investigation.
