Sir Ian McKellen and Roger Allam featured in new image from upcoming film Frank and Percy
A new image from the forthcoming British comedy-drama Frank and Percy has been released, offering audiences a fresh look at stars Sir Ian McKellen and Roger Allam in the lead roles.
The film, adapted from the acclaimed West End play of the same name, is co-produced and financed by John Gore Studios and BK Studios. The newly unveiled image shows McKellen as Percy and Allam as Frank during a scene depicting a Pride celebration.
Frank and Percy follows two older men who strike up a friendship while walking their dogs on Hampstead Heath. What begins as casual conversation develops into a deeper connection, with the story exploring themes of companionship, love and later-life relationships.
McKellen, a six-time Olivier Award winner and Oscar nominee known for roles in The Lord of the Rings and Gods and Monsters, also serves as an executive producer on the project. He stars alongside three-time Olivier Award winner Roger Allam, whose screen credits include The Thick of It and Les Misérables.
The film boasts an extensive ensemble cast featuring Sir Stephen Fry, Jessica Gunning, Dame Joanna Lumley, Sir Derek Jacobi, Ncuti Gatwa, Dame Siân Phillips, Rob Brydon, Felicity Kendal, Dame Sheila Hancock, Peter Davison, Gary Wilmot, Nitin Ganatra, Amari Bacchus, Hugh Skinner and Wayne Sleep.
Award-winning screenwriter Martin Sherman, whose credits include Bent and Mrs Henderson Presents, has adapted the screenplay, while Sean Mathias, known for his work in film and theatre, directs.
The film centres on the relationship between Frank and Percy as they navigate friendship, ageing and the possibility of finding romance later in life. Producers have described it as a life-affirming story about connection and second chances.
Icon Film Distribution will release Frank and Percy in UK cinemas, while Kaleidoscope Film Distribution is handling worldwide sales.
