Lunch Positive and Clare Project to receive £10,000 each from Brighton & Hove City Council's Community Catalyst Fund

Local HIV charity Lunch Positive and trans support group the Clare Project are to benefit from Brighton & Hove City Council's Community Catalyst Fund.

A total of £400,000 is being awarded in grants to local community groups and voluntary organisations. Lunch Positive will receive £10,000 for its HIV community 'Wellbeing Together' Project, while the Clare Project will receive £10,000 for core running costs.

The Community Catalyst Fund grants are for projects that improve the wellbeing of residents and communities experiencing poverty, as well as projects that support the ambitions of the council plan to create "a fairer, healthier and more inclusive city that works for all".

A panel of local residents was involved in awarding the funding and grants will be awarded to groups over two years, with half of the money being paid this year and half next year.

Councillor Mitchie Alexander, Cabinet member for Communities, Equalities, Public Health and Adult Social Care, said: “We have some amazing community groups across Brighton & Hove, who work so passionately to help make our city a fairer, healthier, and more inclusive place.

“These grants will help to support their work on a wide range of projects that are making such a difference to the lives of local people and local communities.”

Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical.

Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.

Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
