LGBTQ+ mental health charity MindOut joins forces with the Prince and Princess of Wales to help transform suicide prevention

Brighton-based LGBTQ+ mental health charity MindOut is one of 18 charities chosen to be part of the National Suicide Prevention Network, run by the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Launched on World Mental Health Day, the Network aims to transform suicide prevention by delivering lasting change in how suicide is understood and prevented across the four nations. It will improve universal pathways for suicide prevention to ensure that they are evidence-based, effective and accessible to all.
As an innovation partner, MindOut has received seed funding from the Royal Foundation to deliver new projects which serve to address specific needs facing LGBTQ+ people.
Peter Nesbitt, MindOut Charity Director, said: “LGBTQ people are disproportionately affected by poor mental health and every day we see both the challenges our community faces and the life-saving difference that accessing support can make. We are delighted to be partnering with the National Suicide Prevention Network to create the chance to share learning, build on each other’s expertise, and ensure effective help reaches more communities.”
MindOut offer a range of services to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all LGBTQ+ communities including advice and information, peer support and mentoring, counselling, advocacy, befriending and suicide prevention support. Their services are for LGBTQ people aged 18+. They also offer training to other organisations.
