Jake Shears has launched the fourth season of his award-winning podcast Queer The Music, opening the new run with a special extended interview featuring Placebo frontman Brian Molko.

The new season arrives after a successful year for the chart-topping podcast, which recently won two Webby Awards, including Best Music Podcast. Upcoming guests will include Swedish pop star Tove Lo, DJ and drag performer Jodie Harsh, and alt-pop artist Baby Queen.

Hosted by the Scissor Sisters singer, Queer The Music explores the artists, songs and cultural moments that have shaped LGBTQ+ lives and influenced wider popular culture. Across the series, Jake speaks to musicians, performers and creatives about the music that has defined their lives and careers, while examining the role queer artists and allies have played in transforming the cultural landscape.

The fourth season is being billed as the podcast's most ambitious yet, with plans for themed episodes, legacy artist specials, guest co-hosts and conversations with authors alongside musicians.

The opening episode sees Jake in conversation with Brian Molko as the pair discuss everything from their shared admiration for David Bowie to navigating life as outsiders within the music industry and media.

The episode also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Placebo's breakthrough single Nancy Boy. Released in 1996, the song explored themes of sexuality, gender and identity and has since become one of the band's defining tracks. Originally conceived as a reclamation of a slur, the song is widely regarded as a landmark moment in alternative music's engagement with LGBTQ+ themes.

The podcast's return comes during a busy period for Jake, who is continuing Scissor Sisters' reunion celebrations following the band's first tour in more than a decade. The group recently released the live album IT'S 10 PM…DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR SISTERS ARE? LIVE FROM THE O2, LONDON, recorded during their sold-out London show in 2025.

Previous guests have included Self Esteem, Jessie Ware, Perfume Genius, Pet Shop Boys, Billy Porter, John Grant and Big Freedia, alongside episodes exploring the legacies of influential artists including Sylvester and Little Richard.

The first episode of Season 4, featuring Brian Molko, is available now.
