Hunter Hardin, the gay adult performer and burlesque artist known professionally as LuLu LoveBottom, has died aged 30, prompting an outpouring of tributes from friends, fans and fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Hardin's death was confirmed by friends on social media after a farewell message was posted to his Instagram account on 7 September. According to reports, friends later shared details of his death in the comments beneath the post.
In the message, Hardin wrote: "I love you and I'm sorry I was unable to make it to the end. GOODBYE FOREVER. Love, Lulu." The accompanying caption read: "Been hurt for the last time by someone I shared my heart with."
A close friend, identified online as Asuras, confirmed the news in the comments section, writing that Hardin's flatmates had called emergency services after finding him at home, but he could not be revived.
Known to fans as LuLu LoveBottom, Hardin built a following through his work in adult entertainment, burlesque performance and social media. He was also a prominent figure within queer nightlife circles, where he became known for blending athleticism, dance and gender expression in his performances.
Before entering the world of burlesque and adult entertainment, Hardin was involved in competitive sport, having played American football and taken part in rowing during his younger years. He later discovered burlesque after attending a ballroom event in Arizona, an experience that inspired him to develop the LuLu LoveBottom persona.
In a 2025 interview with Outsports, Hardin spoke about how performing allowed him to embrace different aspects of his identity. "It allows me to identify my femininity with my masculinity," he said. "There's a lot of musculature to what I do. I'm oiled up, but I let myself express my femininity as well. It feels authentic and reflects the journey I saw for myself when I was younger."
Friends and fellow performers have since paid tribute, remembering Hardin as a warm and supportive presence. One friend, Johani Montero, described him as "one of the happiest and sweetest people I've ever met" while encouraging people to check in on loved ones who may be struggling.
Hardin's family has reportedly asked for privacy as they come to terms with their loss. He was 30 years old.
