Brighton Bear Weekend announces community grant opportunity for LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS community groups and charities

Following its most successful event to date, the organisers of Brighton Bear Weekend, an annual event celebrating the bear community and its allies in Brighton & Hove, have announced a new grant programme to support local LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS community groups and charities.

"This year's Brighton Bear Weekend was a fantastic success, and we owe it all to the incredible support of our community," said a representative from the Brighton Bear Weekend organising committee. "Now, we want to give back. We are offering generous grants to fund specific projects that will have a direct and visible impact on our local community."

Local LGBTQ+ community groups, charities, and HIV/AIDS charities are invited to bid for grants. The organisers are particularly interested in funding specific, tangible projects where the use of the funds can be clearly demonstrated.

Proposals should be submitted via email to graham@brightonbearweekend.com.

The deadline for all submissions is 31 August 2025.

Support independent LGBTQ+ journalism

Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical.

Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.

Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
