Community open day invites locals to explore Moulsecoomb forest garden
Residents in the city are being invited to an open day at Moulsecoomb Forest Garden, offering a chance to connect with nature and meet the people behind the community space.
The event will take place on Friday 10 July, running from midday until 6pm. Organisers say the day is an opportunity for visitors to see what happens at the garden and learn more about its activities and projects.
A wide range of hands-on experiences and family-friendly activities are planned. These include demonstrations of primitive technology, pizza-making, bug hunting, pond dipping, art sessions and a tombola. Visitors will also be able to learn more about bees and the role they play in the local environment.
Food and drink will be available, with a café serving snacks and refreshments throughout the day. The event is open to everyone, with organisers emphasising its welcoming and inclusive nature.
For locals, the open day offers a chance to engage with green space, learn new skills and connect with others in an informal, accessible setting.
Inclusive, community-led spaces like this help create safer, welcoming environments where LGBTQ+ people can connect, build networks and access wellbeing-focused activities outside traditional venues.
