Eddie Izzard, who also goes by the name Suzy, has revealed she is standing to be Labour MP for the Brighton Pavilion seat in a new promo video released on social media.

The announcement comes after the Green Party‘s Caroline Lucas – current MP for Brighton Pavilion – announced she was stepping down. Sian Berry was last month announced as Green candidate for the next General Election.

Eddie Izzard, who previously said she didn’t want to stand on an all-woman shortlist as she identifies as gender fluid, would be Labour’s first transgender MP if she gets elected.

Izzard has promised to inject a bit of fun into politics – which “can be a bit dry”.
