UK Black Pride to return this Sunday, marking two decades of celebration, resistance and community

This Sunday, thousands are expected to descend on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford for UK Black Pride 2025, marking two decades of celebration, resistance and community for LGBTQ+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern heritage.
Founded in 2005 by activist Lady Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, UK Black Pride has grown from a small gathering to the largest event of its kind in Europe. This year’s theme, Becoming, draws inspiration from science fiction writer Octavia Butler’s words: “God is Change”, celebrating the ongoing evolution and resilience of Black and POC LGBTQ+ communities.
Running from 12 - 9pm, the event will feature a dynamic mix of live music, spoken word, panel discussions, wellness spaces and community stalls. Headlining the main stage is Durand Bernarr, performing as DJ TBD aka Bra Coley, alongside artists such as Shanay Maliya, Project Reese, and Ivicore.
Presenters Will Njobvu, Rikki Beadle-Blair, and Josie Peres will host the day’s festivities, guiding audiences through a packed programme of entertainment and activism.
An official after-party will take place at The Colour Factory in Hackney Wick, running from 9pm - 3am, offering a space for continued celebration and connection.
Lady Phyll said of the anniversary: “As we reflect on previous years, we are planning to make this the biggest and the boldest UK Black Pride yet. It is with such joy that we return to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which is slowly becoming a great home for our event as we grow bigger and bigger.”
Organisers have reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the event free and accessible, encouraging donations to support future editions and outreach work.
