Trans rights advocate Ella Morgan reveals the toll relentless transphobic abuse has taken on her mental health

Ella Morgan has shared an emotional and candid message with her followers, revealing the toll that relentless transphobic abuse has taken on her mental health.
The 31-year-old reality TV personality and trans rights advocate posted a tearful photo of herself on Instagram earlier this week, accompanied by a heartfelt caption in which she admitted she is “not in a good place”. Ella, who made history in 2023 as the show’s first openly transgender bride, has become a prominent voice for the trans community in the UK.
In her post, Ella wrote: “Sometimes a smile hides a lot. I can be the loudest, most outgoing person in the room, but inside it's a very different story… I never talk or post about my feelings or when I'm not in a good place. But I felt like I needed to post this.”
She went on to describe the emotional strain of being a public figure and advocate, saying that the constant trolling, negative media coverage, and pressure to represent her community have left her feeling overwhelmed.
“Social media gives off the impression that life is amazing, but the truth is, it isn’t always. Constant trolling and negative articles about trans lives take their toll… Sometimes I feel like a failure and being sent horrible DMs doesn't help when I'm having a bad day already.”
Ella’s openness has sparked a wave of support from fans and fellow cast members, many of whom praised her bravery and vulnerability. She concluded her message with a note of hope, saying:
“Sometimes the feelings of failure and loneliness and negativity get the better of you… But I know tomorrow is a new day and hopefully it'll be an easier one.”
Her post comes amid ongoing discussions about the treatment of transgender individuals in the media and online spaces. Ella has previously spoken out about being targeted by transphobic slurs, including a recent revelation that a well-known celebrity had referred to her using a derogatory term.
