On Saturday, 19 July, Brighton once again became a beacon of pride and protest as thousands gathered for Trans Pride Brighton 2025 - Europe’s first and largest Trans Pride event. Now in its thirteenth year, the grassroots celebration continues to champion trans rights, visibility and community resilience.

The day began at Victoria Gardens, where attendees assembled for speeches before marching through the city centre. With chants echoing and banners flying, the march was both a celebration and a protest - highlighting urgent issues such as healthcare access and trans youth protection. An accessible route ensured inclusivity for all.

After the march, the city came alive with stalls, performances, and art. The Trans Makers Market at Brighton Dome showcased work by trans and non-binary creators, while Dorset Gardens and New Steine Gardens hosted community spaces filled with music, activism, and joy.

The day culminated in a surprise performance by British singer-songwriter and trans ally Kate Nash, who appeared at Dorset Gardens wearing trans-flag striped fairy wings. Her set included the powerful new anthem GERM, a fierce pro-trans track that resonated deeply with the crowd. Nash addressed rising hate crimes against trans people, stating:

“According to Home Office figures, this country has seen an increase in hate crimes towards trans people… I’m the first cis person to play at Trans Pride Brighton, I feel really honoured to be here.”

Her heartfelt speech and electrifying performance were met with cheers, as attendees clambered onto railings to catch a glimpse of the moment.

The official events wrapped up at 6.30pm, but the celebration continued with the Aziz Afterparty at North Lane Brewery, offering a space for reflection, connection and dancing.

Trans Pride Brighton 2025 was a powerful reminder of the strength and vibrancy of the trans community. As founder Sarah Savage put it:

“We are trans, we are power, and we are not gonna fucking stop.”
