Switchboard seeks helpline listening volunteers

Brighton & Hove LGBTQ+ Switchboard, a charity for LGBTQ+ people in Brighton looking for a sense of community, support or information, is looking for Helpline Listening Volunteers to answer calls, emails and webchats from other members of LGBTQ+ communities.

The charity is looking for people who:

  • Identify as LGBTQ+
  • Are able to travel to Brighton at least once a month for volunteer meetings
  • Are great listeners and passionate about supporting the LGBTQ+ community
  • Are able to commit to at least two shifts a month

The role can be done remotely, however the training and monthly volunteer meetings are held in Brighton so the ability to travel to Brighton is essential.

To apply, fill out the form here. The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday, June 6.

Support independent LGBTQ+ journalism

Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical.

Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.

Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
