Russell T Davies seems happy, so f*** what Twitter thinks
Russell T Davies is in a new relationship, which naturally has upset people on 'X'.
Russell T Davies has made waves on Twitter (unfortunately, now called ‘X’) after hard-launching his new relationship with 27-year-old Oliver Cole. Davies, 62, and Cole seem happy, yet it’s sparked outrage on Elon Musk’s platform.
Who is Russell T Davies?
Davies is a Welsh screenwriter and TV producer, known for his involvement in shows such as Doctor Who and Torchwood, and for creating iconic shows such as Queer as Folk (1999), Cucumber, Banana, Tofu (2015), Years and Years (2019), and It’s a Sin (2021). In 2011, his boyfriend, Andrew Smith, was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and sadly later died in 2018.
Who is Oliver Cole?
Not that it matters too much, Cole is an aspiring model and is a fully-grown consenting adult. That’s all we need to know.
Why are people so pissed off?
Well, we’re living in a world that is so angry for no reason. Davies and Cole are both adults in a consensual relationship. Yet on the 30th of December, Graham Linehan, the divorced ‘Father Ted’ writer, in true Linehan fashion, managed to make it all about "gender ideology".
Now we know why he's down wiv da kids on gender ideology pic.twitter.com/mnRgrYJYvV

Although I have no idea who she is or what she is famous for, another who made Davies' relationship an attack on trans people was Julie Bindel.
What is it about male transactivists that seem to like very young men that look boyish? (Where I am from, 36 years is two generations. The pervy git): pic.twitter.com/UTm3mP9edK

You would think that during the festive period these people would have better things to do, like spending time with their families (except Graham Linehan, of course). But apparently, twisting a consenting cisgender gay relationship into transphobia is the most productive thing they could do. Sad, really.
The irony
There is a bit of irony in all these people saying what they're saying, because when they're not bashing trans people or fighting legal action in court, they claim to be on the side of 'LGB' people. But they seem to have a serious issue with a gay relationship. It stinks of homophobia, but I can't say I'm shocked.
