What's in it?

Our biggest issue yet. 52 pages of journalism, history, politics, and culture from the heart of the LGBTQ+ community.

This is the Pride Edition. And Pride, as we've always understood it, is not a moment. It's a movement with a past worth knowing and a future worth fighting for.

Inside this issue, Jonathan Blake, one of the founders of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, reflects on solidarity across decades. We trace the history of Dyke Pride, chart the journey of Trans Pride in the UK from its origins to today, and hear from young queer activists about what they actually want from Pride in 2026.

Green Party MP Sian Berry speaks to Scene about the intersection of party politics and LGBTQ+ rights. We explore bisexual regret, the often-overlooked complexity of queer life in the Commonwealth, and why our elders remain our most irreplaceable living archive.

This issue goes global too. We report from San Francisco, look at a new dawn for LGBTQ+ communities in Hungary, and examine what Peter Magyar's victory really means for queer Hungarians. Plus: why not all of us vote the same way, and why that's exactly the point, and how a single opinion poll became a Reform UK propaganda weapon.

We also look inward: surviving Pride season, and what it costs.

52 pages. One community. Many futures.

What's in it?

This Spring 2026 issue of Scene Magazine marks the return of Scene as a printed publication and celebrates LGBTQ+ History Month with a sharp focus on visibility, memory and resistance.

At its heart, this issue asks a timely question: who gets remembered, and who is still fighting to be recognised?

Inside, we speak to Sue Sanders, co-founder of UK LGBT+ History Month, reflecting on more than two decades of activism and why queer history remains contested terrain.

We also publish a powerful interview with Craig Jones, founder of Fighting With Pride, exploring the long fight for justice for LGBTQ+ veterans affected by the Armed Forces Gay Ban — including the UK government’s financial recognition scheme.

Alongside in-depth interviews, this issue covers:

  • Government reparations for LGBTQ+ veterans
  • The politics of data, trans erasure and equality monitoring
  • National HIV Testing Week and queer wellness
  • Brighton & Hove’s LGBTQ+ history, venues and community spaces
  • Sport, culture and visibility, from football to drag

The cover features Wildblood & Queenie, a Brighton-based DJ duo and partners whose lives and style celebrate queer joy, ageing, neurodiversity and chosen family.

Published by Pride Community Foundation, Scene is a community magazine with a national reach — proudly rooted in Brighton & Hove, now distributed across the UK.

By purchasing this issue, you’re not just buying a magazine. You’re supporting independent LGBTQ+ journalism and helping ensure queer stories are told, preserved and shared.
