Saturday, July 16 saw over 50 LGBTQ+ out and proud members of Out to Swim take part in the 85th annual Pier to Pier race in Brighton.

Organised by volunteers of the Brighton Swimming Club, the race, which is just over a kilometre, is one of the main swimming events in the Brighton calendar starting at West Pier and ending under Palace Pier.

Attendance from LGBTQ+ swimming club Out to Swim has been increasing year on year, matching the club’s surge in new members, making it one of the largest LGBTQ+ sports clubs in Brighton & Hove.

Members from both Brighton and London took part in both the ‘race’ and the ‘experience’ swim categories and managed to come in the top 10 positions in both. Out to Swim would like to thank volunteers of Brighton Swimming Club for organising the event.

Following Pier to Pier, members ran from the finish line to join the Trans Pride parade and Brighton Bear Weekend.
