Lincoln Pride to return in scaled-back format amid financial challenges
Lincoln Pride will go ahead this year in what organisers are calling a “lifeline” event—though it will look a bit different from previous years. The celebration, which drew over 8,500 attendees last year and featured Liberty X as headliners, had faced potential cancellation due to financial difficulties.
This year’s event is set for 16 August and will take place at Orchard Street Car Park. However, it will not include the traditional parade, which organisers said would have added an extra £12,000 to the budget.
Despite the changes, organisers remain committed to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. They’ve introduced new features, including a dance terrace, and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the event happen.
In April, Arran Hart, Director of Community Engagement, revealed that the committee had reduced the event’s budget from £85,000 to £50,000. With many regular sponsors unable to contribute due to budget constraints, the team turned to the community for support.
To help fund the event, a Lincoln Pride Gala Fundraiser will be held on 27 July at community hub The Drill on Free School Lane. DONATE TO LINCOLN PRIDE HERE
