“It’s 2026 - do we even give a shit about gender anymore?" Paloma Faith brands those who obsess over gender “homophobic, transphobic pricks”

British pop star Paloma Faith has been applauded after posting a social media video at the weekend in which she mocked gender‑reveal culture and condemned those fixated on rigid gender norms. The singer, who is currently pregnant with her third child, shared the clip on TikTok and Instagram, holding pink and blue balloons before releasing them and questioning why gender continues to be treated as a defining marker in 2026.

In the video, Faith delivers the line: “It’s 2026 - do we even give a shit about gender anymore? You bloody transphobic, homophobic pricks.” The singer then goes on to say her child will be free to discover and express their own identity in their own time, reinforcing her long‑standing approach to gender‑neutral parenting.

Faith’s comments are consistent with her long-held stance on gender identity and children’s autonomy. Over the years, she has consistently used her platform to champion equality, describe herself as a lifelong ally and advocate for transgender people’s rights, and speak openly about the importance of tackling homophobia.

In a 2023 interview, she reaffirmed that supporting LGBTQ+ communities is central to her values, stressing that she feels a responsibility to speak out and has “never shied away from standing up for what matters”.

She has also been recognised by queer media, receiving the Attitude Honorary Gay Award for her decades‑long affinity with LGBTQ+ culture, and has repeatedly said that the queer community feels like her own
