Isle of Wight Pride (IW Pride) has announced they will be holding their first Charity Football Match against Solent Sports FC-Pride, an allies charity football team based in Portsmouth.

Taking place on Sunday, 29 June, the event will be an 11-a-side game, multi-gendered and all inclusive. No previous playing experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a passion for the cause.

IW Pride said: "Have you been inspired by the successes of the Lionesses or the WSL? Are you a fan of Arsenal or Gillingham or even East Cowes Vics?

"But... have you been scared to go to a match for fear of homophobia? Have you wanted to get involved but can't find an inclusive team? Have you wanted to play as your true gender but never been allowed?"

IW Pride is current seeking players (18+ only) so email claire@iwpride.org or volunteer@iwpride.org to get involved.

They added: "We will be raising funds, not only to support IW Pride and its projects, but also aiming to raise awareness of the issues facing the LGBTQ+ community."
