Digbeth cinema to screen ‘MAISIE’ documentary

MAISIE, a documentary on Britain’s oldest performing drag artist, will be shown at Mockingbird Cinema in Digbeth, Birmingham from Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7.

Directed by Lee Cooper, MAISIE tells the story of David Raven who, with 50 years in the business, still performs as Maisie Trollette. As his 85th birthday approaches, this documentary explores the challenges this brings, and follows the competitive rivalries that bloom when he meets fellow drag queen, Darcelle XV from America, who at 87 and holds a Guinness World Record for the world’s oldest drag performer.

From Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7, the Mockingbird Cinema in Digbeth, Birmingham will be showing the film from director Lee Cooper, as part of their Doc Club. Tickets can be booked online.
