Brighton & Hove Buses has launched their new Pride Bus, designed in partnership with Brighton & Hove Pride.
The brand-new livery was chosen by local residents, and the bus is aptly named after the late David Raven, who many will know as Maisie Trollette, a widely adored and influential drag queen who was a staple of the UK drag scene.
As in previous years, the Brighton & Hove Buses 'diversity bus' will be parked near the Peace Statue at the start of the Pride Parade and then go on to serve as one of the shuttle buses transporting people to the celebrations in Preston Park. With celebrations taking place all over the city, Brighton & Hove Buses has also launched special Pride Timetables for Pride weekend, with shuttle buses (routes 500 and 600) operating between Preston Park, Old Steine and Waterhall Campsite.
The timetables have been put in place to help residents and visitors get around and into the city and it is highly recommended that people plan their journeys well in advance of the event.
Pride timetables and information about services can be found here.
Bus users can also download the Brighton & Hove Buses travel app and get live bus information, service updates and the opportunity to purchase tickets, or use contactless which is available on all of our buses.
Ed Wills, Brighton & Hove and Metrobus Managing Director, said: “Brighton & Hove Pride is hugely important to our community, and we are thrilled to play our part in making sure people can travel safely to and from the event.
"We want everyone to have a fantastic time, which is why we’re putting on special services between Preston Park, the Old Steine and Waterhall Campsite. We highly recommend that people plan their journeys and allow plenty of time to get home.
“The Pride bus is a bus that celebrates and reflects our local community, and so it makes sense that this bus was chosen by our community. We are thrilled to see it finally here in time for Pride celebrations. The designs were developed with the team at Brighton & Hove Pride and for the first time ever, residents got to choose their favourite design.”
Paul Kemp, Managing Director at Brighton & Hove Pride, added: “We’re thrilled to have joined forces once again with Brighton & Hove Buses to celebrate Pride this year. Visibility and support for diversity and inclusion are more important than ever, and I’m incredibly grateful for the continued partnership and commitment from Brighton & Hove Buses.
"Their support plays a vital role in helping us champion diversity and inclusion for all and ensuring pride is celebrated all year round. I’m excited to see the winning design that will capture the vibrancy, creativity, and joy of Brighton’s LGBTQ+ community and the city itself.
"We can’t wait to see the bus on the streets of Brighton and Sussex as we prepare for another fantastic Pride celebration this August."
