Birmingham LGBT launches “Legends and Icons” fundraising campaign to secure vital services
Birmingham LGBT has unveiled its latest fundraising initiative, the Legends and Icons campaign, aimed at safeguarding and expanding the charity’s essential services for the city’s LGBTQ+ community.
As one of the UK’s leading LGBTQ+ organisations, Birmingham LGBT supports over 4,000 individuals annually through a wide range of services including sexual health testing, counselling, domestic violence advocacy, and wellbeing programmes. However, rising operational costs have made sustaining this work increasingly challenging.

The new campaign invites supporters to become either a “Legend” or an “Icon” by committing to monthly donations. Legends pledge £10 per month, receiving benefits such as a Birmingham LGBT pin badge, exclusive bi-annual newsletters, a 10% discount at the LGBT coffee shop, and invitations to events. Icons, who contribute £25 per month, enjoy all the Legend benefits plus access to exclusive social gatherings and the opportunity to meet the charity’s leadership team.
Director Steph Keeble emphasised the importance of the campaign: “Like every charity right now, funds to support our work, especially unrestricted funding, are hard to come by. Legends and Icons’ monthly donations will help us to pay for counselling and 1-2-1 support for people, provide support for social and peer-support community groups, and much more”.
The charity hopes to raise at least £22,000 annually through the scheme. Donations are eligible for Gift Aid, allowing contributions to be increased by 25% at no extra cost to donors.
