Trans RuPaul’s Drag Race favourite Adore Delano has been denied a female passport by the US Government despite applying to change her name and gender.
Adore, who came out as trans in 2023, said at the time her gender transition was years in the making and had taken her from “dysphoria to euphoria”, adding she was now “probably the happiest I’ve ever been in my adult life.”
After visiting a Social Security office, the performer, told TikTok followers: “it’s true you guys, they’re not changing my gender federally so my passport will remain male.”
On his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to recognise “two sexes, male and female,” which “are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”
As a result, the US government is now requiring passports to show a person’s sex assigned at birth, which has sparked lawsuits on behalf of furious trans and non-binary Americans.

Adore previously told her followers she’d applied to change her name and gender back in January.
She said she’s now tried everything she could to get a female passport but was ultimately told “that we’re like a month-and-a-half to two months too late”.
“F**king wild because I travel outside the country for a living,” Adore said.
“I’m filming my first movie outside of the country this week. So all of my documentation that is federal will remain male.
“They’re really out here calling us men, girls.”
Back in February, trans Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer also slammed the Trump administration over its crackdown on trans identities.
Hunter said she was shocked to receive a replacement passport with her gender marker suddenly listed as male, a decade after she first updated it.
