Ahead of Trans Awareness Week (13–19 November), creative agency Joint and national anti-hate crime charity Stop Hate UK launched Have I Got Phobia For You – a shareable online game that takes aim at transphobia in the British media.

Inspired by Have I Got News For You, the parody quiz challenges players to guess whether real, redacted tabloid headlines come from '80s/'90s homophobia or today’s transphobia. The result is both funny and unsettling - exposing how the same Section 28-era fear-mongering once directed at gay people is being recycled against trans people today.

Created in collaboration with the trans community, the game is designed to spark conversation and allyship, encouraging players to share their results with #dontrecyclephobia. Stop Hate UK will use its platform to amplify the message throughout Transgender Awareness Week, calling out prejudice in the press and standing in solidarity with the trans community.

At times like this, when transgender people face attacks from every angle, it’s so important for the community to stand together, to let the T know that the LBG firmly stands with them.” said Rory Robinson, Creative Director at Joint.

Rose Simkins, Chief Executive of Stop Hate UK, added: “Stop Hate UK exists to tackle hate wherever it appears and phobia in the media can have terrible real world consequences for the communities targeted. We’re so excited to launch this game, and hope it plays a role in changing the tone of our mainstream media”
