Pose star and trans icon Indya Moore has declared their intent to seek asylum from the United States, describing the current political climate as “fascist” and hostile to trans people. Moore, best known for their groundbreaking role as Angel Evangelista in FX’s Pose, made the plea while visibly distressed, calling on international communities to “please advocate for us” and offer refuge to trans Americans facing persecution.

Moore’s video, filmed in Paris, comes amid escalating fears over the rollback of trans rights under the Trump administration’s second term. The actor cited reports of proposed policies that could severely restrict trans healthcare, military service, and even basic civil liberties. “Seeing all of these reports about what the federal government is trying to do to persecute trans people and put us in concentration camps - it’s really disturbing,” Moore said.

Their message was not only a cry for help but a call to action. “Trans people are not mentally ill because we’re trans,” Moore asserted, challenging the dangerous narratives being pushed by far-right factions. “How do you go from ‘trans people need help’ to ‘trans people are terrorists?’”

Moore also addressed the everyday violence and discrimination trans people face, particularly around issues of public safety and access. They recounted being threatened with a $100,000 fine for attempting to use a women’s restroom, asking, “Could you imagine having to share a bathroom with the average cis man?”

The actor’s plea extended beyond policy critique, touching on the emotional toll of being trans in America today. “I am treated just like a woman in this world,” Moore said. “And the way that you people take, and take, and take from us! And you treat us like shit!”

Moore’s video also included a pointed critique of Hollywood, particularly Pose creator Ryan Murphy, whom they accused of abandoning the trans community after the show’s conclusion. “Ryan Murphy, we need you to do more,” Moore said, urging him to address racism, violence, and pay inequality within his productions.

The response from the trans and queer community has been swift and supportive. Fellow trans icon Laverne Cox commented, “This call to action, this call to love, this call for empathy… I hear you. I feel you deeply. I’m right there too.”
