Tom Daley presents weather in knitted swimwear on This Morning as part of Don’t Drink and Dive campaign
Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley surprised viewers of ITV’s This Morning on Thursday (24 July) by presenting the weather forecast in a pair of tiny, knitted, heat-sensitive swim trunks.
The segment, cheekily dubbed Tom’s Daley Weather Forecast, saw Daley strip off live on air to reveal the custom trunks, which change colour when temperatures rise above 20°C. The stunt was part of a collaboration with Malibu to promote their Don’t Drink and Dive campaign, raising awareness about the dangers of mixing alcohol and swimming - particularly during hot weather.
Daley delivered a cheerful forecast, noting, “The good news - there’s good news! Following the recent downpours, this weekend overall will be a lot more dry”. He ended with a serious message: “If you end up at a beach or a pool, remember my rant on the pant - ‘Do not drink and dive’”.
Co-host Alison Hammond shielded Daley with an umbrella during the segment, while Dermot O’Leary later wrapped him in a towel, joking, “Loose Women - put yourselves away!”
The appearance coincided with World Drowning Prevention Day (25 July). Daley later posted on Instagram: “I crashed the weather forecast in my trunks, to drop a hot-weather truth: 1 in 4 UK drownings involve alcohol, and the risk is 5X higher when it’s over 20°C. Sun’s out? Stay safe, and whatever you do… Don’t Drink and Dive.”
