The Watery Journey of Nereus Pike will be playing at The Marlborough Theatre, Brighton on Saturday, April 13.

Comedian and storyteller Laura Mugridge offers the audience an acutely personal and intimate performance, with Laura telling the story of Nereus Pike, an old man floating to the bottom of the sea.

Created in collaboration with improviser Katy Schutte, and with an original musical score performed live by Tom Adams, The Watery Journey of Nereus Pike is an epic comic tale of love, gods and sea creatures, with an impromptu rave scene, a bit of Van Halen, and a nautical jumper.

Laura said:

“I wanted to create a story that was both magical and domestic. Epic, but with tiny details. It’s a true story that I made up.”

Tickets: £8.50/£6.50 on the door or in advance.

Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical.

Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.

Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
