On Saturday evening, Brighton Bear Weekend (BBW) held a Thank You & Grant Giving Party at Nautilus Lounge in Kemptown, to thank volunteers, to introduce a new Chair, and award grants to a range of LGBTQ+ organisations.

The Sussex Beacon was "delighted to attend” and the local HIV charity’s CEO Rachel Brett accepted a grant for £2,400, a significant portion of which will be used to fund essential works in the Beacon's kitchen, one of a number of projects taking place at the Beacon, ahead of its new LGBTQ+ hospice opening as previously announced.

The Sussex Beacon said: “All of us at the Sussex Beacon are enormously grateful to Graham Munday, the BBW team and BBW devotees, for their ongoing support. We are also enormously proud of our partnership of many years, which we very much look forward to continuing into the future.

“Graham, our heartfelt congratulations on flying the BBW flag for so long and so admirably. Our very best wishes for the future, our warmest thanks and we hope you enjoy every minute of the extra leisure time!”
