Supporting LGBT+ Children & Young People training on Wednesday, July 12
Love parade. A group of people with rainbow flags and symbols. LGBT. LGBTQ.

Join Allsorts Youth Project and Brighton & Hove Safeguarding Children Partnership (BHSCP) for Supporting LGBT+ Children & Young People training via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, July 12 from 1-4pm.

This session will allow participants to discuss and reflect on how safeguarding issues relate specifically to LGBTQ+ children and young people – such as, increased risk of suicide, self-harm, exploitation, missing education etc. Allsorts and BHSCP will explore some of the issues and challenges experienced by children and young people who are LGBTQ+ or exploring their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Together you will examine how these issues may impact their lives and wellbeing.

By the end of the training, participants will have:

  • A better understanding of the experiences of LGBTQ+ people.
  • More confidence in supporting, and being an ally to, LGBTQ+ people
  • Knowledge about creating more inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ people

The sessions takes place via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, July 12 from 1-4pm.

Support independent LGBTQ+ journalism

Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical.

Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.

Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
