Stonewall National Museum appoints Molly Lenore to lead national campaign for new LGBTQ+ history hub
The Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library (SNMAL) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has announced the appointment of Molly Lenore as Director of Capital Campaign & Major Donors to spearhead efforts to create a new world-class facility to preserve and share millions of stories from the LGBTQ+ community.
Lenore brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to equality. A key board member of the LGBTQIA Sports Equality Foundation, which includes the LGBTQ+ Sports Hall of Fame, she has long championed inclusion and recognition in sport, shining a spotlight on discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ athletes and promoting unity across the field. Her career spans work at New York’s Museum of Natural History and 23 years running her own firm, Moey, Inc., where she led award-winning teams in creating immersive, interactive environments for leading institutions.
Active within the trans community, Lenore has served on the national boards of SAGE, the National Gay Flag Football League, and other sports organisations. Her national profile and extensive network will help SNMAL connect with audiences across the country who share its mission to raise the visibility of LGBTQ+ history and culture.
From science and culture to government and the arts, LGBTQ+ individuals have shaped the world we live in.
“We are thrilled to welcome Molly to our team,” said Robert Kesten, President and CEO of SNMAL. “Her experience and determination will greatly enhance our national and local efforts. She understands the importance of Stonewall remaining here in South Florida - ground zero in the fight for equality. Florida needs her vibrant spirit and dedication.” While Lenore will continue to be based in New York, her expertise and reach will be pivotal in creating a home that the entire community can be proud of.
Speaking about the campaign, Lenore said: “At a time when we are being written out of the history books, we will insist on telling the truth about our contributions and the immense value we’ve added to society. From science and culture to government and the arts, LGBTQ+ individuals have shaped the world we live in.”
The Museum’s upcoming 4th annual Standing on the Shoulders of Heroes Gala will take place on Saturday, 21 February at The VENUE, Wilton Manors, raising vital funds and community support for the year ahead.
