Stafford Pride “at risk” after Environmental Health department at Stafford Borough Council objects to cost-saving permanent licence

Stafford Pride, an annual celebration of love, diversity, and equality, has reported that the Environmental Health department at Stafford Borough Council has objected to Pride securing a permanent licence to hold Stafford Pride, putting the annual event at risk.

Writing on Facebook, Stafford Pride said: “We’ve co-operated, tried to negotiate and work with the EH Team to come to a resolution; on all levels they have been difficult and obstinate to work with and never had the decency to speak to us before their objections were raised.

“Each year a licence to put the festival on costs nearly £1,000; a permanent licence will save that money, that we can put back into the event.

“Everyday at the moment feels like one step forward, two steps back. We’re two young men trying to bring something amazing to Stafford, why is there so much anguish?”

Organisers are asking supporters of the event to send their messages of support to info@staffordpride.co.uk. These messages will be presented to the Licensing Committee in April.

This year’s Stafford Pride Festival & Parade will take place on Saturday, 9th August 9. More info HERE
