Southampton Pride awarded UK Pride 2027

Southampton Pride has announced that it has been officially selected to host UK Pride in 2027, marking the city’s biggest LGBTQ+ celebration to date.

The news was revealed on Sunday, with organisers describing it as “really big” and a milestone moment for an event that began as a small, volunteer‑led local celebration. The title is awarded in partnership with the UK Pride Organisers Network (UKPON), which selects one host city each year to stage a national Pride event.

As the 2027 host, Southampton will welcome Pride organisations, LGBTQ+ communities and visitors from across the country for what is expected to be the largest Pride event the city has ever staged. Organisers said the eyes of the UK Pride movement would be on the south coast as Southampton steps onto the national stage.

In a statement, Southampton Pride paid tribute to the volunteers, performers, partners and supporters who have helped build the event over the past decade, saying the achievement belonged to the entire community.

“What started as a local celebration powered by passionate volunteers, big dreams and a whole lot of glitter has grown into something extraordinary,” organisers said. “This isn’t just our moment. It’s your moment.”

The team promised that UK Pride 2027 would be “bigger, bolder and louder”, celebrating visibility, protest, joy and unity under the banner #PoweredByYou.

“The countdown starts now,” they added. “Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for building this with us. And get ready… because this is going to be unforgettable.”

Southampton Pride 2027 is expected to deliver a major boost to local LGBTQ+ visibility, tourism and cultural life, with further details to be announced closer to the event.
