Sally Vate to star in "world's first AI panto"

Iconic Brighton drag queen Sally Vate is to star in AI Panto - the "world's first AI panto" at the Komedia in January 2026.
Created in real time by OpenAI’s ChatGPT using audience suggestions, the family-friendly show will be performed unedited and unrehearsed by a cast packed with experienced TV, radio and comedy talent..
Comedy favourite Patrick Monahan headlines the show which begins with a laugh-filled audience warm-up where suggestions are gathered. Then during a brief interval ChatGPT writes the entire pantomime script using those prompts - spelling mistakes, odd plot twists and all. No rewrites. No safety nets.
The cast must then bring it to life exactly as written!
Producer Tom Beard said: “This is the world’s first AI panto — it might be genius, it might be chaos… it might fall flat on its face, but either way, it’ll be hilarious.
"With the creative industries still grappling with the rise of artificial intelligence, what better - or more brilliantly bonkers - testing ground than panto?
"This show offers a sharp, silly snapshot of AI’s current capabilities, a glimpse into the early sparks of machine-made creativity… and yes, probably a bit of a laugh too.”
