Rylan Clark has said it is an ‘honour’ after being announced as the host of the inaugural Metro Pride Awards, which take place in London on February 26.

The awards ceremony will bring together the most influential and inspiring LGBTQ+ individuals and organisations to honour the extraordinary talent, resilience and passion that define the community, and will recognise individuals in the public eye who have achieved greatness in fields ranging from entertainment and activism to entrepreneurial success.

BBC presenter and LGBTQ+ icon Rylan said: ‘It’s such an honour to be the host of the first ever Metro Pride Awards.

‘I can’t wait to be part of a night that celebrates the trailblazers, innovators and change makers in the LGBTQIA+ community. See you there!’

As well as hosting the event, Rylan has been nominated for broadcaster of the year, alongside Jill Scott, Nick Grimshaw, Scott Mills, Mobeen Azhar, Alex Scott, Robert Rinder, Dean McCullough, Riyadh Khalaf and Sue Perkins.

Brighton-based LGBTQ+ mental health charity MindOut has been nominated for Grassroots or Charity Organisation of the Year alongside AKT, Fighting With Pride, Manchester Pride and others.
