British singer-songwriter and producer Romy, best known as one-third of The xx, has unveiled her latest single, Love Who You Love - a euphoric and deeply personal track that she describes as a “proudly queer love song” and a symbolic closing chapter to her acclaimed 2023 debut solo album, Mid Air.

Produced in collaboration with BloodPop and her bandmate Jamie xx, the track pulses with textured house beats and shimmering synths, echoing Romy's signature dance-pop sensibilities. But beyond its sonic appeal, Love Who You Love carries a powerful message of visibility, resilience, and pride within the LGBTQ+ community.

In a statement accompanying the release, Romy shared: “It was really important to me to acknowledge that the world is STILL such a challenging place for so many of us to show our love openly in the LGBTQ+ community. In reaction to that, I wanted to write a song that not only celebrates and uplifts love, but also calls for change.”

The single arrives alongside a visually striking music video directed by Romy's creative and life partner, Vic Lentaigne. The video, starring Romy herself, adds an intimate layer to the song’s message, portraying love in its most authentic and defiant form.

Having nurtured the track since 2020, Romy describes Love Who You Love as a “labour of love” inspired by her experiences in queer clubbing spaces - places where she found community, courage, and creative inspiration.

“These experiences and the people I’ve met continue to be so inspiring to the music I’m making. This song intends to be a love letter of visibility and pride. No one can take the love you feel away from you - it’s yours.”
