Newly leaked Spotify playlists, allegedly belonging to United States Vice President JD Vance, has ignited a wave of online chatter after revealing a surprising fondness for queer anthems, boy bands, and powerhouse divas.

The leak, published by an anonymously run website dubbed Panama Playlists, claims to have uncovered the real Spotify accounts of various public figures by analysing usernames, listening patterns, and public settings such as the “last played” feature. The site, first reported by WIRED, likens its revelations to the infamous Panama Papers, stating: “That exposed hidden bank accounts. This exposes hidden tastes.”

Among the most talked-about discoveries is a playlist titled Gold on the Ceiling, allegedly linked to Vance. The title appears to reference the recent $200 million renovation of the White House ballroom, now adorned with gold decor. The playlist includes LGBTQ+ cultural staples such as Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car, alongside tracks by One Direction, the Backstreet Boys, and Florence + The Machine.

A second playlist, Making Dinner, features similarly eclectic choices, including Justin Bieber’s One Time and more Florence tracks. While the playlists offer no insight into Vance’s personal identity, they present a stark contrast to his public image as a staunch conservative and former ally of Donald Trump’s hardline rhetoric.

The leak has prompted broader discussions about the divide between public personas and private preferences, particularly among political figures. Other Trump-era officials reportedly caught up in the leak include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, whose playlist allegedly features Queen and Elton John.
