For the past two years, Brighton & Hove Pride has unable to hold its usual fundraising events, but has delivered an online digital Pride festival that raised over £14,000 as well as the Pride at the Ironworks season that has raised £10,400.
During the pandemic, Pride has also been able to support over 100 LGBTQ+ artists and collectives with a year-round cultural programme of smaller in-person events as well as supporting Trans Pride Brighton in delivering their 2021 online events from the Ironworks Studios, Allsorts Youth Project with their Youth Pride event and a number of other local community groups.
Paul Kemp, Director of Brighton & Hove Pride said, “The last two years have been extremely challenging for many of our LGBTQ+ community groups. Everyone has had to adapt to the challenges posed by the pandemic as well as rising costs.
“Although we are extremely proud to have raised these essential funds for the Brighton Rainbow Fund, we’re excited to bring back our main Pride fundraiser We Are Fabuloso on Preston Park in August and thank the thousands of people who have already purchased tickets.”
We Are Fabuloso, the UK’s biggest LGBTQ Pride event with community fundraising at its heart, is back as part of the Brighton & Hove Pride festival weekend, August 5-7, 2022. Other events include the FREE Pride Community Day, Pride Dog Show, the two-day Pride Village Party and the Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade with its theme of Love, Protest & Unity.
