New website launches to champion the strengths of Brighton & Hove’s arts and creative industries

Artists, makers, producers, and creative industry organisations working in the local cultural sector now have access to a new online space to support them through the Covid-19 crisis and beyond.

The Culture in Our City website is for everyone, whether you want to see a show, get involved, create, or submit your own content.

Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) joined forces with the city’s Arts & Creative Industries Commission to create the brand-new site, which is a ‘one stop shop’ for events, resources and where everyone involved or interested in the arts can keep track and connect with the sector.

Ty Abiodun, a designer from Fuse Brighton, said: “Cultureinourcity.com is a brilliant site and something that is very much needed at this moment in time. The opportunity to find out what’s going on and developing in the city culturally is essential.

“It’s also allowed me to not only promote Fuse Brighton (an inclusive platform elevating the work of creatives of colour) but also to discover and reach other useful local networks and organisations.”

Councillor Clare Rainey, who represents the council on the Arts & Creative Industries Commission, said: “We listened to the needs of the city and developed the site to make it useful and usable.

“Our culture sector has been severely hit by the pandemic and despite recent funding successes, they need assistance for the long-term. This website is a support system for everyone, whatever their interest, as we move together to recovery.”
