Marilyn Manson's Brighton gig cancelled following pressure from campaign groups and MP

The opening concert of Marilyn Manson’s One Assassination Under God tour, scheduled for 29 October at the Brighton Centre, has been cancelled following pressure from campaign groups and a local MP.

The campaign group No Stage for Abusers urged the Brighton Centre and Brighton & Hove City Council, which owns the venue, to cancel the show. The move follows past allegations against Manson - real name Brian Warner - by four women who accused him of rape, sexual assault, and bodily harm. A year-long investigation in California concluded in January without charges, citing the statute of limitations and insufficient evidence to prosecute.

One of the accusers, Game of Thrones actor Esmé Bianco, had previously settled a civil case with Warner and confirmed her involvement in the criminal investigation. In 2021, Westworld actor and former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood also publicly accused Warner of abuse, which he has denied, calling the claims “falsehoods.”

Green Party MP Siân Berry, representing Brighton Pavilion, wrote an open letter to council leader Bella Sankey, co-signed by local groups and the University of Sussex Students’ Union, urging cancellation. Berry argued the event conflicted with the city’s values and posed risks of “discrimination, harassment and victimisation.”
