Mariah Carey has said she styled out a wardrobe malfunction during her headline performance at Brighton Pride at the weekend. The pop icon, 56, took to the stage in four dazzling, figure-hugging outfits for a two-hour set packed with hits like Vision of Love and Hero.
Speaking on Heart Breakfast, Carey shared that the mishap occurred “right in the front of the area of the front,” but thankfully, “nobody saw it.” She managed to recover quickly, walking through her dancers and continuing the show without drawing attention to the incident. “I saved it,” she said, “otherwise it would have been talked about.”
Despite the backstage panic, Carey’s performance was a triumphant return, originally scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic. She also used the occasion to show solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.
Fans described the show as “goosebump-inducing” and “a moment for the history books.” While dedicating Hero to the LGBTQ+ community, Mariah said: "You’ve been here for me for so long, supported me through good times and bad. I just want you to know - I’ll always, always be there for you."

Carey’s Trans Pride flag-inspired mini dress and pink bomber jacket emblazoned with Protect The Dolls was also widely praised as a bold statement of solidarity. Fans cheered the look and its message, calling it “powerful,” “moving,” and “unapologetically supportive”.
