The EuroGames 2025, the LGBTQ+ multi-sport event, officially opened this week in Lyon with a vibrant and inclusive ceremony that set the tone for four days of celebration, competition, and community. Held at the picturesque Place du Maréchal Lyautey, the event welcomed thousands of athletes, supporters, and spectators from across Europe.
The opening ceremony was a free public event, transforming the EuroGames Village into a hub of energy and Pride. Attendees were treated to a rich programme of artistic performances, stirring speeches, and a parade of delegations representing the diverse LGBTQ+ sporting community. The atmosphere was electric, blending festivity with a powerful message of unity and equality.

Organisers emphasised the importance of visibility, inclusion, and solidarity throughout the evening. The event echoed the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, drawing inspiration from their commitment to diversity. “This is the inclusive, united, and diverse Europe we want to celebrate,” said a spokesperson for EuroGames Lyon 2025.
With over 30 sports represented and thousands of participants expected, the EuroGames continue to be one of Europe’s largest LGBTQ+ sporting events. Beyond the competitions, the Games also feature cultural events, workshops, and community spaces like the Pride House, fostering dialogue and connection.
