An LGBTQ+ venue in St Louis, US has called for a boycott of Anheuser-Busch products, including Budweiser, Stella Artois and Beck’s, after the brewing company terminated their 30-year relationship with St Louis Pride.
Writing on Instagram, Pride St Louis said: “For 45 years, Pride St Louis has been a beacon of love, resilience, and community. But this year, we’re facing a major challenge—losing over $150,000 (£116,000) in sponsorships, including longtime support from Anheuser-Busch.”
Following the news, Rehab Bar and Grill in the city has decided they will stop carrying all Anheuser-Busch products.
Chad Fox, owner, said: “To stand with our LGBTQ+ community, we have decided to stop carrying all Anheuser-Busch products… To end their sponsorship is another targeted attack on our LGBTQ+ community.”
A joint release says this decision is “emblematic of a larger pattern of corporate entities exploiting the LGBTQ+ community for publicity and sales while failing to stand by their commitments when it truly matters.”
While Pride St Louis did not ask for the boycott, they are “honoured and humbled” by the unwavering support. You can donate to Pride St Louis HERE
