A controversial Christian event led by an anti-LGBTQ+ activist in Seattle was met with a spirited counter-protest as hundreds of LGBTQ+ activists armed with kazoos played Chappell Roan's queer anthem Pink Pony Club to drown out proceedings.

The rally was organised by the controversial evangelical group Let Us Worship, led by Christian singer and activist Sean Feucht. Known for his outspoken anti-LGBTQ+ views and previous clashes with progressive communities, Feucht’s presence sparked significant backlash from local residents and advocacy groups.

Originally slated for Cal Anderson Park - a site with deep significance to Seattle’s LGBTQ+ community - the event was relocated to Gas Works Park following public safety concerns raised by Mayor Bruce Harrell. Despite calls to revoke the group’s permit, city officials cited First Amendment protections and allowed the rally to proceed.

In response, LGBTQ+ activists staged a colourful and musical protest dubbed “Kazoo Karaoke”, featuring a coordinated performance of Chappell Roan’s queer anthem Pink Pony Club. Protesters, many dressed in pink cowboy hats and waving Pride flags, gathered just metres from the rally, creating a wall of sound that reportedly disrupted the event’s audio setup.

The protest was part of a broader initiative called Louder Than Hate, organised by the Lavender Rights Project, a Black and trans-led advocacy group. Their aim was to counter what they described as “far-right provocation” with joyful resistance and community solidarity.
