LGBT Foundation launches national campaign celebrating everyday LGBTQ+ joy

LGBT Foundation has issued a nationwide call for LGBTQ+ people and their allies to share the moments of everyday joy, hope and unity that define their lives. The charity is inviting stories from across the UK as part of a new campaign designed to highlight the ordinary but powerful experiences made possible by decades of hard‑won progress.

The initiative aims to showcase real stories from LGBTQ+ communities, alongside the friends, families and loved ones who support them. Organisers hope to shine a light on the small, human moments that reflect what it means to live openly and proudly in today’s Britain.

Examples gathered so far range from a trans man feeling confident enough to go topless at the beach, to a gay couple waiting at the school gates to pick up their children. Other moments include family dinners, a long‑awaited kiss at an airport, or older lesbians spending a quiet evening together in front of the television. According to the Foundation, it is these seemingly simple, everyday experiences – lived visibly and without apology – that remind people that life is worth living, and that the joy found in authenticity is worth protecting.

The charity is encouraging submissions from anyone with a meaningful moment to share, whether it involves holding a partner’s hand in public, coming out at work or later in life and being welcomed, or experiencing a small but significant gesture of allyship. Stories may also focus on acts of support, such as parents attending Pride for the first time, a friend speaking up when it matters, or the comfort of feeling fully oneself after a visit to the barber or salon.

Selected contributions may be featured across a range of platforms, including out‑of‑home advertising, media partnerships, digital content, short‑form video, blogs, social media and audio oral histories. The Foundation has encouraged anyone with questions about how their story might be used to contact its team directly.

As part of its commitment to representation, LGBT Foundation is particularly keen to hear from voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream LGBTQ+ campaigns. The charity is seeking input from trans and non‑binary people, LGBTQ+ people of colour – especially from East and South East Asian communities – older LGBTQ+ people, disabled LGBTQ+ people, and those who identify as bisexual or pansexual. Allies, parents and loved ones are also invited to contribute.
